The holidays are here. People are busy shopping, trimming the tree, and traveling to see family. Christmas is such a special time, It’s easy to get lost in our own celebrations. Family & friends are important, but let’s not forget those who need some real help.
Matthew 5:14-16 says “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
We as Christians have the spirit of Christ living in us. And let’s face it, in this secular world sometimes the only Christ that people will encounter during Christmas is you. Are we letting the light of Christ shine?
I recently felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to help a family buy winter clothing for their children. The mom was struggling financially, and dumbfounded that anyone would stop and help her. Simply by stopping, listening to God and acting, I had an impact on that family that they won’t forget. I let the light of Christ shine in their lives.
I want to encourage you, the next time you walk into a store to shop, let God begin to speak to you. Begin to see people through the eyes of Christ. Let Him lead you to someone needing help. Be a blessing to someone that needs it, and reach out with the life of Christ. You can make an impact in someones life!
